Warning in advance…long post. I can not abridge the Holy Spirits rendering, so I apologize in advance. Today, a legitimate inquiry was made about the intensity and meaning of this following scripture…
““He who sacrifices to any god, other than to the LORD alone, shall be put under a ban (designated) for destruction (execution).”
Exodus 22:20 AMP
“”He who sacrifices to any god, other than to the LORD alone, shall be utterly destroyed.”
Exodus 22:20 NASB
From this scripture…let’s get real…on the surface God seems cruel, controlling, narcissistic, cultish. It seems as though its His way or the highway. It seems that He is part of todays elitist societies and is authorizing genocide. He seems to have no mercy or grace upon those that are not in allegiance of Him. How can this be fair?! Especially when today we know of many people, many friends, family and loved ones that are not of God. Our people who do not care about God, despise God, or just feel that God is not the only way. Didn’t God create everyone? Doesn’t God, or shouldn’t God, love everyone? Our culture is so intermixed in Faith that the thought of everyone who does not believe in God being destroyed is almost inconceivable. Certainly seems cruel and evil at best.
Here’s the thing! God knew that we would end up in these times when these thought and feelings and questions would arise. He knew there would be massive amounts of corruption in churches and in government. He knew there would be levels of deception beyond our power to escape. He knew the days would be when evil is made good and good is made evil. We only need look around and ask the Holy Spirit to show us endless examples of this.
It is so hard for us to see these truths sometimes because of the levels of indoctrination and brainwashing we have experienced over our lifetime and over many generations. Though now it is at a light speed level….media, television, commercials, music industry. So many incantations made over us, subliminal messages overriding us, sex and drugs enchanting us. It is out of control.
Morality is subjective. Where does morality have its foundation and roots if not rooted or founded in something? We have begun to place more importance in animals than in people. We are beginning to believe that a rock and flower are just as holy as God himself. Where is the sanctity? Free love is the rule of the Law. “Do as thou wilt” is the rule of the Law. Even treating a virus as high as a human life.
Where am I going with this? God knew where we would be at today and it was imperative that He set up a foundation that would be everlasting in order for us to know who He is, what He is, how He is, what He desires, etc.
In todays day and age, pantheism (God is everything and everyone and that everyone and everything is God), animism (all things have a spirit or soul, including animals, plants, rivers, mountains, stars, the moon, and the sun.), and panantheism (God’s physical body is the universe and everything in it, and that God also transcends this universe.)… is the basis of todays predominantly pagan world….everything is equal to each other. We fight for equality on all fronts.
[Let me set up a preface here that I am not saying anything about abuse being right, or that people don’t have basic human rights etc. God is no respecter of persons…He loves us all equally. However, that is not what I am saying here.]
If you look at the roots of Globalism, New World Order, the Environmental Movement, etc….you will see that a rock, and tree and bee is held in as high esteem as you. My question is….if everything is Holy, if everything is God….then from what is everything set apart?
God is set apart and Holy…period. He is an everlasting foundation….unchanging. He is creator.
In order for us to have a basis here on this earth as His people, He needed to set us apart. In order to have a foundation in which to learn from and be grafted into He needed to have a people.
This time in Exodus represents a time that is so imperative to the Redemptive Plan He had in place. Let me ask you this….how can someone be adopted into a family that doesn’t exist?
We needed a home, a family….a physical “vehicle” by which to get into in order to enter into the Kingdom of heaven. He created that vehicle when He formed and fashioned and initiated and consecrated His people.
The enemy is great at deceiving and getting us to believe that God is the enemy. That He is the enemy of people; of anyone that doesn’t conform. That is the new message of todays agenda…”all inclusive”; tolerance, co-exist. Co-existing in and of itself is not a bad thing. We must love our neighbor…no doubt. As well, we were taught to share the gospel with everybody, with no discrimination and in love. Though….let us remember…who was God talking to when he said love your neighbor? He was talking to His people about His people. Am I suggesting that means we do not love our neighbors that are not like us? NO. However, we must put the Words of the Bible in context. WHO was He talking to?? And why?
Nowadays we have many nonbelievers and believers cherry picking the Bible, picking out the pieces that feel good and look good and will help support what they want to believe and the lifestyle they are choosing. Though God did say to love…it was not a passive love, it was not a flimsy love, it was not a sexual or feel good love. More importantly…love was not love….it was that Jesus was love! Jesus may have come in as the suffering servant…but He is going out as the Lion of Judah!
In order for God to make a “Chosen People” He had to sanctify them…separate them out from the world…to prevent infiltration from others, to prevent “infection” by Satan’s many tactics. We don’t want to hear about that today…we’ll raise our hands in an uproar and claim “legalism!!”….but the way to prevent attacks from the enemy is by wearing the whole armor of God, by being obedient to His will and way. Nowadays, were so sick of authority telling us what to do that we are all revolutionists in our own right. We want to do what we want, when we want, and how we want. So much so, that an idea of a God is such a turn off and seems downright as if we are backtracking in our evolution and illumination.
At this time of Exodus there were already many years of covenants and intimate relational experiences that preceded the deliverance of Israel out of the hands of Egypt’s bondage and slavery and abuse.
[Egypt in all reality is symbolic of todays current Government (control), Pagan Origins (many gods, power of our own), life of vanity and monetary gain.]
God is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Three generations of worship to God, of relationship with God, of forming an eternal heritage with the Father. There were people hand picked of God, such as Joseph (Jacobs 11th son) who would save his family (Israel) from famine and death. 12 tribes of Israel came from the loins of Jacob. All for the purposes established by God before the foundations of the Earth.
God delivered Israel out of the hands of the enemy. He walked with them…they witnessed miracles daily as they walked in the wilderness to reach the Promised Land. Essentially it was a boot camp of sorts. After all, they would be the founders of a Royal Priesthood, the Army of God. He taught them daily His ways through experience. This would all culminate at the place of Mount Sinai through Moses. Where God would establish His people with the Law. Of course lets keep in mind that in the Greek….Law means legalism, BUT in Hebrew, which is the language of Jesus…Law means the way, the path to blessing.
In one moment God gave HIS people, Israel, a complete manual and layout for their life. He needed to usher onto the earth a people that would make way for the very Salvation of all people of the world. He couldn’t have anything or anyone jeopardize your life. Yes, your life! This would risk destroying the very means by which He would conquer Satan and by which we all could have an eternal life with Him. Not to mention that most people do not talk about how at this time not only were there pagans and agents of Satan walking around, but there were also descendants of fallen angels walking around. Several of the communities that Israel destroyed on their way to the promised lands were Nephilim (giants, hybrid beings, walking dead)…no joke. Would you protect your family and village from walking fallen angels…or just be passive and let them kill you first? We do need to put all this in perspective.
God was very serious about taking care of His people. Nowadays…quite frankly…we are passive and apathetic and mushy. Am I saying to go around killing those that don’t believe. Absolutely NOT! We are living in a different Dispensation. A time of Grace and Mercy….a new Covenant where God is asking us to love and preach the gospel…to testify and share His Word, that we may reap a Harvest for Him.
With that said….I must say that in this “hyper grace” movement that is going on, we must not neglect the commandments and what God asks of us. Some commandments were specific to those times, for Israel and in consideration of what God himself was doing; which was creating and establishing His people. Yet, many of those commandments are still relevant for today, much of which is talked about in the New Testament. Though most of the time we don’t want to be told what to do! We are a stubborn, hard headed, rebellious people. Sadly, that is what God despised about Israel when they were walking the wilderness. They always grumbled and complained and oddly enough they missed the luxuries of Egypt…a place they once despised and loathed and were torchered by. Oh the irony. Do we not do that today too? We hate “the system” but bow down to it; being sucked in daily…into its agenda and religion. Ahhh…yes, I said religion.
You think the system is not trying to kill you and use you and indoctrinate you, exploit you, destroy your mind, destroy your autonomy, steal your power, take your soul? The enemy is very deceptive; making God look evil…and making him look good. Let us always keep in mind that the ruler of this world is Satan. Yes, God is sovereign..but…Satan is ruler, for now.
So yes, “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that all who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life”…and to whom was His Son born into? Jesus was a Jew (Israel). God had a plan for His people and He could not jeopardize that plan by people whose hearts had allegiance to Satan. He was protecting His family, His children, His chosen people….me, you, us.
We all have a choice and free will as to whether to believe Him or not. I think it is so tough nowadays to phathom, because the enemy has put so much in place to make us believe that God=Hitler, sort of speak. Funny thing about that? Hitler was an agent of Satan trying to destroy Gods chosen people. Second funny thing? Lucifer (Satan) always want to be equal, better, to God.
I guess if we are that concerned with people dying…then we really should be reaching out to help save souls. What we are dealing with today is the culmination of years of Satan recruiting people. Sadly, he does it so cleverly, connivinly, and vigorously.
God does not want us dead. He wants us alive, with eternal life. Just as God is not dead, but is surely alive.
We all have the ability today to change the destiny of our future generations by whether we choose to follow God or not. Our decisions do matter. There are consequences in life. It’s not a free for all.
God wants to give us life and that life more abundantly but He is not taking children of Satan into a Holy place…they would die. Satan is death. Jesus (Yeshua, Yahweh) is life.
“‘May the Lord bless you and keep you! May He make His face to shine on you and be gracious to you! May the Lord turn His face toward you and grant you shalom (peace)!’”
